喫茶 ジュリアン | Café Julian, A Nostalgic Kissaten in Fujisawa, Kanagawa

Located just a few minutes from Fujisawa Station, 喫茶 ジュリアン / Café Julian is a classic Japanese kissaten with a warm and nostalgic atmosphere. It is the kind of café that feels quiet and relaxing the moment you walk inside, a nice break from the busy streets outside.

The interior has a very retro Showa era style. Dark wooden tables and chairs fill the space, and the lighting is soft and warm, giving the café a cozy feeling. The decorations and furniture feel old fashioned in the best way, making it feel like time has slowed down a little. Instead of looking modern or minimalist, 喫茶 ジュリアン / Café Julian keeps its traditional charm, which makes the atmosphere feel genuine and comfortable.

One of the nicest things about the café is how peaceful it feels. People come here to enjoy coffee, have dessert, read, or simply relax for a while. The café has a calm atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer than planned.

喫茶 ジュリアン / Café Julian is also known for its classic kissaten menu. Many visitors order coffee, parfaits, cakes, cream soda, and light meals. The desserts look simple but comforting, matching the retro atmosphere of the café perfectly. Their parfaits especially seem popular among customers visiting Fujisawa.

classic japanese pudding

Here, I just ordered the classic Japanese pudding and a melon soda while taking a short break from walking around Fujisawa. The pudding was smooth, rich, and fluffy.

melon and strawberry soda

The melon and strawberry soda were refreshing and sweet, adding that nostalgic kissaten feel that makes old cafés in Japan so charming.

The café itself has been around for many years, and you can really feel that history through the interior. Nothing feels overly polished or designed for trends. Instead, it feels lived in and familiar, like a local café that has quietly stayed loved for decades. The wooden furniture, soft lighting, and slightly worn details all add to that sense of quiet nostalgia, making it easy to slow down and stay a little longer than planned.

If you enjoyed this spot, you might also want to check out my other blog about Coffee Shop Kai in Fujisawa, where I spent a relaxed day having both brunch and lunch. It has a different but equally cozy vibe, with comforting food and a calm café atmosphere that makes it perfect for a slow day out in Shonan.

If you enjoy traditional Japanese cafés, 喫茶ジュリアン / Café Julian is worth visiting while exploring Fujisawa or the Shonan area. It reflects the simple, nostalgic side of Japanese kissaten culture, which is becoming less common today as some older cafés gradually close down. Because of this, I try to visit and experience as many of these classic cafés as possible while they are still around.
